what is final destination?

final destination is a horror movie franchise that started with the 2000 film final destination, which was originally based on a script for the X-Files. in total, the franchise has 6 movies, 10 books, and 2 comic books. each movie follows a group of people who try to escape their inevitable deaths after one of them has a vision (called a premonition) of a deadly disaster. this vision helps them avoid the disaster . . . but death doesn't take no for an answer. after cheating the deaths they were given in the premonition, the characters are hunted down to die one by one in strange and unexpected "coincidences."

out of all the movies, FD3 is my favorite :,) i'll probably infodump about it and my personal lore with it later on . . . but for now here's all the characters! one of my favorite parts about this final destination movie in specific is how the characters interact with eachother and how likeable the cast is in general. in another life they'd belong in a sitcom.

wendy christensen

wendy is the visionary in final destination 3, and is one of my favorite characters. i know it's cliche to immediately fall in love with the main character of a movie but she's just way too sweet to overlook omg. LIKE JUST LOOK AT HER!!! she's absolutely my favorite part of the movie. wendy is my beautiful pathetic wet cat meow meow princess of a girlfriend.

out of all the visionaries, she is the most special imo because she chooses to be kind and empathetic and she really feels for everyone around her. not to mention her actress omg!! mary elizabeth winstead is a powerhouse of an actor and there would just be something missing from the movie if she didn't play wendy. that's how i feel with all of the actors actually, like they perfectly played their roles.

kevin fischer

kevin is the himbo white boy jock turned detective with wendy and i love him for that. at first i didn't really care about him but he grows on me more and more every time i watch the movie lol.

he's so willing to protect his friends and doesn't need a reason to. he's surprisingly thoughtful in different ways and i love him and wendy's dynamic. i seriously think that with them it was 'right person wrong time.' is he stupid sometimes? yes . . . but he's trying guys I SWEAR!!! the ending of the movie made me so sad kevin doesn't deserve any of this. he's literally just kevin.

ian mckinley

zip!! ^_^ ian's character is another one of my favorite parts of this movie! him and erin are probably the two characters i headcanon the most too. i love him as a pair with erin and i think they're the cutest ever. ian's so unbearable to the point that it's charming. i love the running gag in the movie of them saying "SHUT IT MCKINLEY" and i get it cuz man this guy is TERRIBLE!!!

him and erin have definitely done the demolition lovers album cover trend before too. also, the only time he wears eyeliner in the whole movie was when he was on his way to cause wendy's death. that's so iconic. he gives major colin gray vibes imo which is just perfect.

erin ulmer

pip!! :3c erin is ian's counterpart and if there was any way to love anyone more than i love ian and wendy she would definetly take the cake. i love her so much. she's totally my biggest self insert ever lol but how is that my fault . . . she's literally me . . . she's the same level of annoying as ian and i love how in the book they're basically described as getting together because they were the only people who matched eachother's freaks.

my favorite part about characters that have such little screentime is that i can characterize them however i want to. erin and ian are so special to me, especially with their stupid little attitudes. they are both totally the type to be super smart but somehow fail every test. i could go on and on about my hcs for them. i miss my loser emos < / 3

ashlyn and ashley

the prettiest girls die the most brutal deaths . . . too bad these two are just so perfect. i love the trope of popular 2000s white girl who looks mean but isn't. and theres TWO OF THEM!!! i have to include both of them here because just like ian and erin, they move as a unit. like why would i ever seperate them. that's rude.

ashley is the blonde and ashlyn is the brunette btw. they're so cutesy. my favorite part is that they were never once implied to be mean. they're just too likeable < / 3 that makes their deaths sadder tbh. also, the transition scene from the tanning beds to the coffins??? absolute cinema. i get chills just thinking about it. they're absolute icons even in death.
